Leftfield- Afrika Shox, directed by Chris Cunningham: Narrative and representation case study

"'Afrika Shox' is a song by Leftfield, the first single released from their album Rhythm and Stealth. The song featured vocals by Afrika Bambaataa. It was written by Neil Barnes, Paul Daley, Afrika Bambaataa and Nick Rapaccioli and produced by Leftfield and Nick Rapaccioli. It was released on CD and 12" on 6 September 1999 on the Hard Hands record label, published by Chrysalis Music. The song was their highest charting single, reaching #7 in the UK Singles Chart. The song was later used in the 2001 film Vanilla Sky and was included in the film's soundtrack album."

  1. Jake you need to provide more examples from the text of binary oppositions. For example the explicit contrasting representions of race, the middle aged white business man reading the paper indicating confidence and education in comparison to the almost naked and crippled black man.

    An interesting post but more evidence is important to strengthen this and any future case studies.

  2. Though you could have referenced aspects of the music video in more detail your research suggests engagement and understanding of how genre and narrative work. Proficient. And well done Jake an interesting case study to read.

    Check spelling. You can add revisions, i.e. referencing examples from the music video and I'll revise mark.
