Question 3 evaluation:

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

 Summary of ideal target audience:

Age: 16-30
Gender: mixed
Class: working and middle class
Music preference: most genre’s, chilled out
Preferred artists: Tricky, Massive Attack, Portishead, Dj Shadow, Bonobo.
Media preference: niche art-house films, guardian newspaper.

-
To gather feedback on both my productions; music video digipack and advertisement, I asked other classmates and peers to give feedback and fill out a questionnaire, I did this to ensure my understanding of an appropriate audience had been effective; especially in deciding if i was, in reality targeting the right demographic. I chose to use a self report technique, a mixed questionnaire in order to get detailed qualitative and quantitative feedback which provided me with further subjective perspectives, as well as numerical data which can be statistically analyzed. For the feedback of my main production i used a mixed gender sample of 8 people, small so that i can respond to feedback and critiques effectively in small time frame. A self-criticism of something i have learned from using a sample consisting of class mates and peers of whom know me and therefore there results may be open to potential bias which could effect the reliability/ objectivity of findings.

This feedback overall is rather average, although showing it is not as an effective of  music video as it could have been. I also had some peers vote on which back cover to use, in the end 5 people thought the blue sunset back cover was strongest and contrasted best with the front cover, only 1 person preferred the purple sunset back cover design (both on blog further up) and therefore from this i decided to use the blue sunset for my final submission and make changes to that to get the positives from other designs into the perfect one.

My overall response to ancillary task feedback:

I conclusion i think my feedback was positive suggesting the audience demographic is aproapriate and the print productions successfully combine with the main production and genre of the music. Feedback guided my response by leading a finalization in possible designs as well as which fonts the audience felt were most appropriate for the genre and demographic.
